Former UCC student and current Vice President for Campaigns at the Union of Students in Ireland, Beth O’Reilly has today been elected President of USI for 2022-2023. A native of Cork, Beth was elected by Students’ Union representatives from all over Ireland at USI’s Comhdháil 2022. ‘Supporting Wellbeing in Practice’ webinar and report

The Union of Students Ireland with the support of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education today held an online webinar on ‘Supporting Wellbeing in Practice’ across the sector. The Union of Students in Ireland is staging a demonstration and sleep-out in front of Dáil Éireann from 12 noon today, Thursday (September 23), to highlight the increasing anger among students and their families at the desperate situation facing students looking for somewhere to live to attend college or university. Government urged to support USI student accommodation bill in Dáil debate

Government TDs are being urged to support the student accommodation bill which will be debated in Dáil Eireann on Wednesday (April 28), by the Union of Students in Ireland and Students’ Unions all over Ireland. The USI’s Residential Tenancies (Student Rents and Other Protections) (Covid-19) Act 2021 was tabled in late February by Sinn Fein and signed by 56 opposition TDS. A Bill to protect student renters for the remainder of the COVID-19 pandemic will be tabled in the Dáil today (Thursday) on the back of a campaign led by the Union of Students in Ireland.
